Monologue Night

There are still a few places available for the next No Drama Monologue Night on Monday 7th November in the Black Sheep.

Please register your interest by email

The No Drama Monologue Night is a great way to get yourself comfortable with being on stage.

We also arrange a day of rehearsal where you will be guided by your fellow performers and given directions to help your performance.

For anyone who wants to get experience prior to any upcoming auditions or before the Shindig (bi-annual showcase night) recruitment season starts, this is the perfect way to get valuable experience and get your name out there.

No Drama Double Bill

No Drama Theatre are proud to present this double bill of original theatre.

  • Where – The Pearse Centre
  • When – 5th – 8th October
  • Time – 8pm
  • Tickets – €10 (on the door)

“Symbiotic” is play unlike any other! Three actors and a writer combined their ideas and inspiration and crafted a sentient piece of theatre.

Three people, one room and a different out come each night..come and see, who knows what will happen…

Starring – Fintan Ryan, Izzy Hughes and Annette Burns
Written by Sarah Lynne, Assisted by John Fox

(Soon to be working the one act circuit!)

The rain hammers down. Parts of the puzzle are starting to slot into place, but are the clues all they seem? The pieces are moving on the board, but is everyone playing the same game? Somebody is dead, stabbed through the heart. Somebody is running from the law, looking for a saviour. Somebody is out for revenge, relentlessly tracking their prey. Somebody doesn’t see why this couldn’t all wait till the morning. But Frank O’Hara is on the scene, and that means someone’s body on the floor.

Starring – Declan Ryan, Kate Cosgrave, Charlotte Keating and Malcolm Bolton
Written by Johnny Shortall

AGM 12th of July

No Drama will hold its Annual General Meeting this Tuesday 12th of July in Synge Street CBS at 7pm.

This is a great opportunity for our members to have a say in how we go about the things we do, to find out what happens behind the scenes and also air any issues or ask the Committee any questions (eg. What’s with all the fancy crowns and sceptres?!?).

The AGM will be our last event before we take a break for the summer. Workshops will start up again in mid-August.

Also very importantly there will be NO WORKSHOP on that Tuesday!

Summer Shindig! is here

Poster for Summer Shindig 2016

No Drama is proud to present our summer Shindig! An evening to showcase the talents of our members as writers and actors. Come along to the Pearse Centre on the 9th of July and enjoy eight unique and original pieces directed and performed by our very own No Drama talent.

Tell your friends about it but remember there are only about 60 seats. It’s a first come first served basis so get there early.
Tickets are €5 and available at the door.

Performance starts 7pm sharp.

Quiz! Prizes! Fun! Fundraiser for The Trial

It’s a quiz.
Where: The Grand Social, Liffey St.

There will be questions.
What kind: Who even asks that!? It’s a quiz. Turn up and see what you know… or don’t know.

And oh how we will all laugh….
How much for this ‘laugh’: €10 per person. Don’t worry about having a team organised beforehand. We’re a very sexy inclusive bunch.

Things should kick off at 8pm so please be there around 7.30 so you can get your team sorted, order some pizza, get your pint of leffe and have that one last google of random facts.

This is the fundraiser for ‘The Trial’ project so who better to be running the night than a real-life burrito-loving lawyer, Jonathan Shortall.

He’s great.

Full details for ‘The Trial’ can be found on our Facebook event page

Tickets for No Drama’s latest play The Trial are now on sale at the Smock Alley website.

Gooseberry at Bray

Our award-winning One Act “Gooseberry” is playing next month at the Bray One Act Festival.

Written by Hugh Cardiff and directed by Nikhil Dubey, Gooseberry is a heartwarming comedy about 3 Roscommon farmers.

It will play on Wednesday the 27th of January in the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray. Tickets can be booked here.

P.S. Our friends at At Large theatre are showing their One Act “The Meeting” the following day in the same festival. Worth checking out.

Table Quiz for Harvey – Wed 11th November, Grand social

Are you the music type or the movies type? Are sports or video games your bag? Everybody’s got their favourite, and this time around the No Drama Table Quiz aims to tickle your fancy and make you think “Argh! I know that one”!

But…if you know the answer to such questions as “Who said ‘I am the one who knocks'” or “When did Ireland win the Grand Slam in rugby?”…frankly, it’s useless information and it won’t help you in this quiz. A multimedia feast, all questions will be tantalisingly fun, but a touch different from your typical table quiz.

“What’s this for?” I hear you ask. To which I may sarcastically reply “Read the heading”. Or, if you’ve caught me in a good humour, I’ll explain that it’s for No Drama’s Winter Production, ‘Harvey’! A comedy written by Mary Chase with our maestro Declan Ryan directing a wonderful cast from December 1st to December 5th in Smock Alley. This table quiz will allow that to happen and will of course, whet your appetite in coming along to see it!

Tenner in, raffle tickets to be bought at half time, awesome prizes to be won. For an example, a copy of Destiny on PS4!!

So come on down to the Grand Social this Wednesday 11th of November at 7.30pm. It’s €10 euro per person and you can either get yourself a team together (4 or 5 max please) or come along yourself and we’ll put you with a team.

And here is the facebook link so you can show off to all your facebook friends:

Shindig! Registration Open

It’s that special time of year again folks, where we let you make the show.

The Shindig is back and perfectly timed to give you that lift before Christmas. We will be performing once again in the impressive confines of the Pearse Centre on December 12th.

For those of you unfamiliar with the shindig, it’s our bi-annual showcase night. A night of several short plays chosen, directed, acted, and many written by all you lovely, lovely people. We provide the venue and you do the rest! It’s a great chance to try something new or different, or take on a different role, so now’s the time to start thinking about what you might like to do.

The deadline for submissions for The Shindig will be Friday 30th October. If you have any questions about the shindig or if you are interested in putting on a scene at the Shindig, email Cathal at

Here are the dates for your diary:

Registration Opens: Tuesday 20th October

Registration Closes: Friday 30th October

To register, the director of the piece must email with the following:

  • Name of Piece
  • Writer’s name
  • Number of performers
  • Director’s contact details
  • Length of piece
  • Draft script of the piece
  • Due to the demand for spots in the Shindig, the above detail must be included in order to be considered. Depending upon demand for the places in the shindig not all pieces might be accepted.

Once you are registered and confirmed the following dates are of note:

Rehearsal Review: Saturday 28th November or Sunday 6th of December

Showtime!: Saturday 12th December at 6:30pm

Support will be provided throughout the rehearsal process where required.

    Now the T&C’s!

  • All performers and directors must be paid-up active No Drama Theatre members in December
  • Participants are permitted to act or direct or both, but cannot be involved in more than 2 pieces. Writing does not impact this requirement, therefore you can write as many pieces as you want!
  • The director is the main point of contact and is expected to liaise and coordinate with their team and committee as required.
  • The maximum permitted length of a Shindig piece is strictly 15 minutes or less.
  • If your piece is a copyright work, it is the director’s responsibility to secure performing rights. Performance rights can be secured via the Drama League of Ireland for most works.
  • Each piece is responsible for their own costumes, props and sets. All pieces are advised to keep their set, lighting and sound requirements to a minimum to facilitate a speedy change between performances.
  • Failure to adhere to any of the deadlines set out above or any instructions set out by the committee will result in your piece being removed from the show list.
  • All pieces and casts must be available on the date for the Rehearsal Review.
  • The selection process will be curated. We expect to have an average of 8 performances depending on timings.
  • If you are interested in performing or directing but unsure how to get involved, please let yourself be known at a workshop or post a message on our facebook page for other members to see!
  • The Shindig is not a talent show, performance pieces only please!
  • The committee will support you along the way; don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice!
  • Hollywood Movies Sweded – Live Event!

Ya wha’? – “SWEDING” is a form of parodying famous movies with cardboard and household items. The key is to pay homage by adding your own comedic flavour!

Deadly! When? – Doors open at 7:30, Sat 26th Sept 2015, Generator Hostel Smithfield

And how much will it set me back? – Cover charge is €10 (no more than the usual entry fee into Coppers on a Monday*)

Recently No Drama ran a workshop where members made their own mini swedes as part of a team building workshop. These will also be screened at the event alongside a host of BRAND New Comedy shorts & Swedes.

On the night people can vote for the favourite performers at the Golden VHS Awards.

Comedy group, KILL THE MONSTER, will also be performing a live Swede!

See you there for a great night out!

*Hollywood Movies Sweded do not guarantee the shift.
