Workshop – 18/06/2019

Guys! It’s here the penultimate No Drama workshop pre Summer break!

So you only have 2 more chances to get a workshop in! This makes us sad but we assure you that we insanely good ones in store for you.

With that in mind, tomorrow’s workshop is to be facilitated by sensational Theo Dennisson.

“We will experiment with the foundations of a theatrical scene: Listening, communication, trust, sensing your environment and, finally, we will explore status on stage. That will lead us into exploring a darker side of theatre, master and slave.”

Theo Dennisson has been experimenting with theatre, improv, tango shows, music and stand-up comedy since 2004.

Theo studied method acting and improv at the Epi Kolono theatre in Athens (2009-2011). His acting experience includes playing Michael in Karolyi Sakoni’s “We now interrupt our programme due to technical reasons” (2004) and Mr Sirelli in “Right you are (if you think so) by Luigi Pirandello (2005).

Theo directed and played the assasin in Sergi Belbel’s “Morir” (2006) and also held 3 out of 9 roles (magician, Santa Claus, priest) in 2011’s Epi Kolono theatre’s original script production (2001).

In 2011 Theo was an actor and lead singer in “you are what you do” (international street theatre production, Linz, Austria, 2011).

In 2015 he worked on lights in “Harold and Maude” (Collin Higgins) with InPlayers Amsterdam and most recently played Liberty Valance in “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” with No Drama Theatre in 2019.

Theo been doing stand-up comedy in Dublin since 2017.

Workshop – 04/06/2019

The theme of the month is ‘Techniques in Theatre’.

Throughout our June workshops we shall be recapping and incorporating all that we have covered over the past year and exploring new aspects of stage craft.

Tuesday the 4th kicks us off with understanding the physicality of a character and using this in performance, we shall examine emotional range and deliverance to build a scene and look at the arc of a scene; all supported with script work (beautiful lovey words to play with).

This weeks facilitator is the energetic, enthusiastic Ms Louise Dunne.

Louise is the current chairperson of NoDramaTheatre, of which she has been an active member since 2014. Louise has studied acting at The Gaiety School of Acting and The Lir Academy and has been involved in 14 productions over the past 6 years.

Louise has worked with the following Theatre Companies in varying capacities (at both professional and amateur level): No Drama Theatre, At Large Theatre, Monaincha Theatre Group, The Gorgeous Theatre and Pygmankenstein Theatre Group.

Louise directed the extravagant production of ‘An Experiment with an Air-Pump’ by Shelagh Stephenson in 2017 and ‘Unchained Melody’ by Adam Walsh at Smock Alley Theatre. She has also produced 3 shows for No Drama and brought a show to the All Together Now Festival in 2018.

Louise is also the Artistic Director of No Drama Theatre, adding Set Design, Set Assembly/Construction and Prop Building to her already extensive CV.

However, her first love is and can only be acting and she has taken to the stage in 14 productions to date with both lead roles and supporting roles.

To date she has appeared in:

“The Chalk Garden” by Enid Bagnold at The Sean O’Casey Theatre Nov 2014

To close out our ‘stepping outside your comfort zone’ theme, we are delighted to announce Siobhan Hickey as this week’s facilitator.

“While researching common themes that cause actors difficulties, three things kept cropping up; love, sex and comedy.”

Workshop participants will be given the opportunity to explore these themes in a safe space through various exercises and discussions.

Siobhan is a writer/actor and has been a member of No Drama Theatre for over 9 years.

Throughout her time with the group, she has performed in main productions in a variety of different roles (including the female lead in John McGahern’s ‘The Power of Darkness’) and taken part in the now well established No Drama Monologue Nights.

As well as working onstage, Siobhan has also directed (‘Closer’ by Patrick Marber) and produced (including the sell out run of ‘Harvey’ by Mary Chase). Most recently, she performed the first draft of her one woman stand up show ‘Dear Diary… and other notions of a romantic nature’ which is currently being developed for further future performances.
