SPECTRUMSESSION 28 FEB – 2 MAR

Fags, Skags and Sleeping Bags…

Straight from your favorite music festival beside a miscellaneous body of water.

No cans to spare, scarce tobacco and the music won’t start again for several hours. Could the deranged ramblings of the irredeemably degenerate provide a path to salvation? Sure, all you know is you’re not missing the headline act for the world.

No Drama Theatre’s official entry into this wonderful festival is a unique piece written by one of our own. Due to the content of the play they have requested that their identity remained undisclosed. However, they assure us that he/she/it is working extremely hard with a very dedicated cast to bring a bit of that wet field magic to the main stage!

We are paired with a very intriguing piece from ThereisBear! Theatre, which we are equal parts terrified, fascinated, and, above all, excited by.

Tickets are available to book now on the Smock Alley website

Tickets for the Trial On Sale

Tickets for No Drama’s latest play The Trial are now on sale at the Smock Alley website.

The reviews for ‘The Trial’ have already started coming in and the show hasn’t even been performed yet. Now that’s impressive.

So for the love of all that’s fair and right in the world, all will be posted.

“A heavy-handed fugue of a production that swamps the audience in a morass of pompous, stinking cliché and tortured, circuitous plot logic. The performances are as wayward as they are trite, emotional depth hereby confused with shrill melodrama and redundant, if not entirely ersatz, erotic dance routines. The sets have been seemingly designed by abandoned toddlers on a Benzedrine and skittles binge. It is a small mercy that the languorous performances are so occluded by the lush brocade and apt feathery provided by the costume designer. Kudos Frau Mangevest for the above, and a fie on the rest of the cast / production team for their louche jackanapery.”- 1 popcorn out of 5.

Shindig Shindiggery!

We are delighted to announce the date of our second Shindig of 2010, on Saturday December 18th at 7:30pm! As always the Shindig is a showcase night, where members have the opportunity to perform short pieces for their choosing of up to 15 minutes in length in front of an audience. So if you have a script you have written or you would like to try to direct something or you just want a chance to perform on stage, then now is the time to get your act together! (excuse the pun!)

We encourage members to have a chat to your fellow ‘Dramites’ and work together on a putting something together, be it established or original. If you are unsure of what to do, please approach any of us on the committee and we may be able to recommend a suitable piece.

The closing date to register to take part is 1pm on Friday 12th November but we ask that you register earlier if possible. Please email chairman@nodramatheatre.com If you are performing a piece with other people then there is no need to register individually, one registration is fine. When registering you need to include the following:

  • Your name (duh!)
  • Contact number
  • Name of piece and whether it is an original piece.
  • Author’s name
  • Other performers (where relevant)
  • Director (if known or put your own name in if you want to try directing yourself)
  • Duration
  • Please include a copy of the script where the piece is an original work.
Each group will be assigned a mentor to assist them with rehearsals etc.

We do have a few rules and guidelines to be aware of for the Shindig:

  • Shindig performers must be members of No Drama
  • Performers/groups are responsible for securing any performance rights relevant for their chosen pieces. We can assist where possible
  • Pieces must be no longer than 15 minutes
  • Remember to keep your set requirements to a minimum!
  • It’s a date for your diary folks, the Shindig will also be the night of our Christmas party!

    shin·dig (shndg)
    n.
    1. A festive party, often with dancing.
    2. An platform for drama members to demonstrate their talents and put on a show of their own making. Composed of several 10-15 minute performances. Almost certainly without any dancing.

We might need to work on the name but the date for this terms multi-piece event have been decided.
and it is : 8th of May 2010.

For those of you not familiar here is how it works.
    1. You find a group of no drama members to collaborate with or go solo if you so choose.

    2. Decide what you want to do. It can be tragedy, comedy, horror, romance or whatever just as long as it is drama (no variety acts please!) , you can write a piece, you can direct, you can act, it doesn’t even have to be complete. If you think you have one great scene put it together and show everyone.

    3. Put together a proposal and send it to us (contact@nodramatheatre.com)

    4. If the piece is suitable we’ll assign you a mentor to help put things together and you can start work!

If you do not have an idea ready but would still like to participate let us know. We can provide scripts if you would like something pre-prepared (or have a look for ten minute scripts on the net, there are many public domain works out there). We will also help people find a group to work with.

Tickets: Ticket sales will not be directly available to the public (subject to change, depending on venue size) , each performing group will get an allocation of tickets to sell as they please. Ticket prices TBD.

Eligibility: Unfortunately those who are rehearsing for June’s production are not allowed participate (Directors orders!). Finally only no drama members (people who have paid their fees ) can participate

Get your thinking caps on and lets put on a show people.
