Introducing Martin Gallagher as Vasilly.
*
Martin’s first introduction to the stage came aged about 5, belting out the theme song to “Fireball XL5” (look it up kids!) at a talent contest on holiday in England. Having been bitten by the performing bug, a few years later, he took up trombone and violin, as well as singing in choirs and appearing on stage. Playing violin in string orchestras and trombone in orchestras and brass bands in his native Scotland, eventually led to the stage of The Royal Albert Hall in London. He continued to perform with drama and choral groups in everything from Gilbert & Sullivan to modern musicals, principally as a trombonist, having realised that, “You worked more, had less stress and got to read your “lines” whist performing!” He is a veteran of countless concerts as a band and orchestral player, soloist and conductor, including winning at the Limerick International Music Festival as a conductor.
He moved from the orchestral pit back to the stage to play the villain, Tarbert, in the Irish musical “The Promise,” followed by playing Lazar Wolf in “Fiddler On The Roof” and most recently appearing in Channel 5/Netflix series, “Maxine,” as David Bristow. He has appeared in several TV series, films and stage plays – including, in 2024, multiple roles in “Prisoner of the Crown” the story of Roger Casement, and two plays in No Drama’s Stage Fright series –“Shadows” and “The Buried” – as well as several audio dramas – often playing multiple characters. He has written several full length and short plays, one of which has been filmed, is currently working on post-production and editing of one audio drama, in which he played multiple characters, and recording a major role for another new four-part audio series, due to be released in early 2025.
Martin is delighted to be a part of “Collaborators” and would like to thank all of the hugely talented members of both cast and crew for their help, support and generosity in sharing their skill and experience. Every day’s a school day!
