The Grönholm Method
An award winning play (Premio Max SGAE Winner 2005 and Premio de la Crítica de Buenos Aires are two of many) written by Jordi Galcerán Ferrer.
The play will be directed by Theo Dennis, and will run from Tuesday 1st to Saturday 5th July 2025, in Smock Alley Theatre, Boys School.
Four candidates arrive for a “group interview”. Eventually, what starts simply as an unorthodox exercise, turns out to be a series of games. Human decency and limits are challenged.
At the end of the day, the question is simple: “To what lengths would you go in order to get what you want?”
A note from our director:
After a few years in various positions in No Drama, I am excited to head a big production. And this is the perfect play for it.
I have been chasing The Grönholm Method for the best part of the last two decades. I consider it one of the most simply written, yet multi-dimensional plays I have ever read and seen.
You quickly jump from character to character, trying to decide who is right and who is wrong. In time, you realise there is no such thing.
After a few sizeable productions, this play’s smaller-than-usual cast will allow us to go deep.
I aim to use Konstantin’s Stanislavski Method Acting to help actors decompose their stage personas entirely. Then put them back together piece by piece.
Character motivation, drawing energy from each other, concentrating on oneself, internalising emotions or exploding on stage.
I have more ideas I will experiment with. But all in good time. Keep your eyes on the socials as there are plenty of opportunities coming, on or off stage.
