Declan Ryan – Birdboot

Declan Ryan first came to No Drama in October of 2009 and has been like the proverbial bad penny ever since.

During that time, he has taken to the stage numerous times for the group starting in June 2010 with his performance as Norman Pollack, in Woody Allen’s ‘Old Saybrook’ right up to 2019’s ‘Gaslight’ by Patrick Hamilton, which required him to grow a glorious moustache for
the role of Inspector Rough. A proud achievement of his.

A true highlight of Declan’s time in No Drama has been the opportunity to direct 2 sell out shows for the group, 2015’s ‘Harvey’ by Mary Chase and 2019’s ‘The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance’ by Jethro Compton – he is forever grateful to No Drama for giving him these
opportunities.

Outside of No Drama Declan has worked with various other groups, including MYCT, Curtain Call, Tempus Productions, Martello (with whom he won several awards for best Actor in Shelagh Stephenson’s ‘Five Kinds of Silence’) and most currently with After Midnight Theatre, where he can next be seen later in July in the role of Coleman Connors in Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy ‘The Lonesome West.

Declan is delighted to have been given the role of Birdboot (someone he hopes he doesn’t resemble in real life), and is in no doubt that you are all in for one hell of a show!

Take your seats alongside Birdboot and Moon, two respectable albeit slightly pretentious theatre critics and enjoy the antics that take place in the Isolated environs of Muldoon Manor. We’re introduced to the eccentric cast who all have a potential motive for murder. But all is not as it seems… surprising even our critics!
