The theme for No Drama’s May workshops is ‘Stepping outside your comfort zone
Our first workshop of the month (Tuesday 7th May) will be facilitated by Renée van de Schoor.
“Physicality on stage”
In this week’s workshop we will be working on physicality on stage. Through a series of exercises we will research:
- Intimacy between one actor and another.
- Physical storytelling.
- Collaborative creation process of scenes.
(It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing, which won’t prevent you from moving around.)
Renée graduated from the University of the Arts Utrecht, with a degree in Theatre and Education. Throughout her studies, Renée directed several productions with a heavily physical component. After her graduation she moved to Dublin, where she worked in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre’s Circle Club and now with the prestigious Abbey Theatre as Business Relationship Coordinator.
During her time in No Drama Theatre, she has gained extensive experience both on stage and behind the scenes as director, actor and producer and is currently secretary of the group’s committee.
After directing a sell-out production of ‘And Then There Were None’, she stepped up as producer for both ‘Closer’ and ’Insomnia’. Furthermore, she appeared as Woman in ‘The Virtuous Burglar’ and played both Lilly and Lilith in ‘She Kills Monsters’ and was production manager of the groups most recent production ‘The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance’. Her last production ‘Haven’ appeared on Smock Alley Theatre’s main space as part of Scene + Heard festival and included 12 physical actors.
