Meet the Director: Jacqueline Carroll!
Veteran(ish) No Drammie and all-round theatre nerd, Jacqueline is buzzing to jump into the director’s chair for our 2026 Summer show, Fanatical by Tom Hoefner — a gloriously bonkers, self-aware romp through fandom, film, and the wonderfully weird things we love. Expect dark humour, big laughs, and a healthy dose of joyful chaos… because honestly, who couldn’t use that right now?
Training Adventures From Meisner at Momentum to screen acting at Bow Street, plus physical theatre, character work, and directing studies at DLI and Maynooth — what can she say, she loves a good course!
Acting Shenanigans She’s been a Tragedian, a floozy, an aul wan, an opioid-epidemic casualty, and a singing moonshiner — sometimes all in the same week. Recent Film credits include ‘Ciorcail Slut’ by Amy Redmond and ‘Clowns’ by Kerrie Costello, and she recently belted out tunes with Penance Theatre in ‘Moonshine’ at this year’s Scene+Heard festival.
Directing Highlights Currently directing The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Lucan Drama). Previous work includes emotional and darkly comedic The Memory of Water (No Drama & Charged Spirit) and an intimate staging of the beautiful Sea Wall (Charged Spirit) and last year in Scene+Heard, the nostalgic, wry and magical ‘VHS-A Journey through Personal Cinema’ performed & written by Dan McCormack.
Next stop: Fanatical! The wild world of fandom and film is hitting the Irish stage for the very first time. Jacqueline loves working with actors and is really looking forward to seeing everyone in auditions. Break a leg folks!
