We are looking for two women (40s) for key roles in our next production ‘Fanatical’ being staged in Smock Alley Theatre from June 30th – July 4th.

This play is huge fun, it’s a very self aware (dark at times) comedy which delves into the world of fandom, obsession, what it’s feeding in ourselves as people and ultimately who does art belong to once its out in the world…the maker or the fans?
We follow our intrepid superfans Gina and Stanley as they kidnap moviemaker and Space Corps creator Bruce Glover in a bid to stop him further destroying their beloved franchise. Things rapidly take a dark turn and well..it all just snowballs from there…

Gina (40s), our lead, is Mom to teenage Yano and wife to Stanley. A true fan and the brains of the outfit, there is NOTHING she will not do for Space Corps. She’s strong, passionate, practical, can be a little blind to others at times due to her single mindedness and obsession. Gina has spent her life trying to be the person she aspires to – by living through Space Corps.

Kyla (40s/50s) is a movie executive and head of Glover Films. She is powerful, pragmatic, confident, afraid of no-one, no bullshit and the quickest quips. She was probably born with a calculator in her hand. She’s seen it all, plays with the big boys and more than able to hold her own. Huge comedy potential with this character. Potential references think Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids or Meryl Streep in DWP.
